Look Who’s a Bike Commuter!

We’ve done stories on 24 hour racers, adventure racers and bike light users of many walks of life. With autumn approaching it seemed like a good time to chat with another group of users…the bike commuters. With different circumstances to contend with like traffic, weather conditions and logistics at work…these folks had some interesting things to say.

When did you start commuting to work by bike?
I’ve pretty much commuted to work by bike since the get-go. I got a job in a bike shop at 16 and my old bike got me to and from the job until I could earn enough to buy a new bike and the crazy cycle hasn’t really ever stopped. About 5 years ago. I have long dreamed of it, but I was a) working out of my home, b) taking children to all their functions. After living briefly in Seattle while getting my Pilates training, I embraced the biking lifestyle that is so strong there and was determined to set up my life to do it back in Chattanooga. learn more...

About 6 years ago when I was working in the Spokane, WA REI store. I’ve been at REI HQ for just a little over 2 years with more of a commitment to commuting this year than last year.
