December 1 , 2007 Giving Back: Bringing the Gift of Light to San Salvador
The dentistry is usually referred to in the trade as “Dentistry in Severe Conditions.” Adequate lighting has always been a major issue in these primitive conditions. When asked how the Light & Motion light systems worked out, Dr Peter Abel said" They worked great and the battery life was outstanding!" Dr Suzy West added "I could actually see what I was doing, and that significantly improved my efficiency " and finally, Dr Len Weldon said "I practice oral surgery, and it sure is nice to be able to see what you're doing. Easy to use, dependable, even and consistent light, great illumination of the oral cavity". Previously work was being done with assistants hand-holding flashlights. Mountaineering-style head lamps just didn’t provide enough targeted light for treatments. We recently received word from David Walter, who said they had just finished five days of clinics in a little settlement/barrio called Cabanitas. “In the 5 days that we held clinics we treated 197 patients, performing 113 extractions, 229 fillings, and 89 cleanings, for a total of 431 dental procedures.” Click to view enlarged images below: Media Contact:
