The Vega, the worlds first fully integrated high power rechargeable LED bike light, will begin to revolutionize the commuter driven market upon its release later this year.
Finally! The brilliance of high powered LED technology that has made such an impact in the high performance flashlight market is crossing over to bicycles. Light & Motion is utilizing a Luxeon™ III Star Power Light Source, the world's brightest and whitest LED, employing up to 85 lumens and an incredible 10,000 hours of LED life. Combine this with a T.I.R. (Total Internal Reflectance) acrylic reflector and you have a pocket sized 220g light that allows you to see as well as be seen.
The compact rechargeable NiMH battery is integrated into the light, so no fumbling with individual AA cells, or separate battery packs with cords to untangle when you get to your destination. Charging is as easy as plugging in a cell phone, and with Light & Motion custom 3 hour Smart Charge profile the light is ready when you are and your batteries will last up to 500 charge cycles.
The Vega also features Light & Motion's Mv current regulation circuitry which recognizes the LED's current requirements and aligns them with the battery's output. This enables the Vega to maintain a more consistent level of light output throughout the useable life of the batteries, (as opposed to unregulated lights, which are subject to a steady decline in light intensity beginning shortly after activation).
The standard, or Over-sized (31.8) compatible handlebar mounted Vega has three power settings, giving its user between 2-8 hours of usable light. The Vega also has a safety flash mode and low battery warning/auto shut off.
