& Motion's Apex Dual Logic is a compact dual-beam night riding lighting
system that is both compact, and graced with some really nice features.
Constructed from engineering thermoplastics, this dual-beam system features
switches that control light output independently. The right head is a high
beam and uses a spot-style reflector, while the left is a flood style reflector.
The switch on the lighthead base controls the secondary high beam. The independent
output control of each light head makes it possible to extend burn times
from 1.5 hours to as much as seven hours. One simple touch of the button
reduces the light output in one-third increments. The LED readout displays
the output level in descending order. Two very useful features not found
on other night lighting systems impressed us with the Apex system - beam
control and lighthead position. All Apex lightheads include the option to
change the beam angle with an adjustable bezel. Simply rotate the bezel
ring surrounding the lens to change the beam from wide to narrow spot. We
found this feature quite useful when combined with the output control. The
lighthead positioning adjustment is one of the best features about the Apex
system. If you are one of many riders currently using rise bars on your
bike, this is an extremely beneficial idea. Rise bars have a 5 to 10 degree
back bend, which causes fixed mounted systems to point off to the side of
the trail, instead of directly ahead where you want them to point. Apex
Dual Logic also features a super compact nickel metal hydride battery that's
about half the size of most competitors power supply systems. Charge time
for a fully discharged battery is approximately 14 hours. Suggested retail
price for the Apex Dual Logic is $299, and that includes everything you
need to mount them up, ride into the dark, and charge them for the next
