A lumen is the unit of luminous flux in the International System, equal to the amount of light given out through a solid angle by a source of one candela intensity radiating equally in all directions. In layman's terms, a lumen is a measure of light just like an inch is a measure of length. Unfortunately, most people are more familiar with wattage. A watt, however, is a measure of power consumption, not light emission. We rate our lamps using watts and lumens for better clarity. For reference, our 21 watt HID lamps are 60 lumens per watt while the 10 watt HID lamps that have recently come into the market are 50 lumens per watt. Most of our halogen lamps are 30 lumens. |

Gone are the days when true "off the shelf" lamps are acceptable to cyclists. They are simply not bright and white enough. Light & Motion lamps operate at extremely high color temperatures of up to 3,400 K to provide a nice, "white" beam. On a per watt basis at full power the lamps, produce 30 lumens per watt. What's more, each lamp is made of optical-quality glass, allowing replacement lamps to be installed by hand - something that can't be done with quartz lamps. |
