This year on Canada Day, July 1, Red Bull Monte Descend moves to Mont-Sainte-Anne with teams of downhill and cross-country riders racing through the mountain, facing challenging jumps, a wallride, ramps, and trails in a 90-minute race against the clock. And if it wasn’t enough, another component will challenge the downhill participants, as the trails will be getting darker and darker as night sets in.
Light & Motion is partnering with Vélirium and Red Bull to provide the industry’s highest preforming lights to help teams ride faster and more confidently through the night. There will be a limited number of light demos available on site, so contact apittmann@lightandmotion.com to reserve your lights now.
As part of our participation on this event, we will also be offering a 15% discount on all Light & Motion products through our local Canadian dealers to registered race participants. This includes the brightest and lightest performance light on the market, the Seca 1400. With more power than a car headlight it is 63% brighter than the leading US competitor. For a lighter faster high-performance light, the Seca 700 offers a similar lumen/weight ratio with a 3 cell battery, for when weight matters. Stella Dual 400 offers both a spot beam and a flood beam in one system to give you the best view of the trail ahead. The Stella 300, Stella 200, and Stella 150 are also offered, the perfect compliment for any racer, with the ability to attach onto a helmet, it allows you to keep your line of site around a turn while your Seca stays on the trail. The Top 3 teams at Monte Descend 2011 will receive, in addition to their prize money, Light & Motion lights, including the Solite 150, 3M’s “In-New-Vation” Award winner for 2011.
The endurance mountain bike race is taking place during the 9th edition of the Vélirium, THE annual mountain bike festival in Canada. Registration for this event is done exclusively online, click here to register.
Starting at 8:30 p.m. ET, bikers will team-up and make their way through the cross-country portion of the race at the bottom of Mont-Sainte-Anne before relaying with their partner who keeps going with the downhill part of the race. They will ride all the way to the bottom of the mountain, where their teammate will be waiting for them to start the next lap. The team with the most completed laps will be crowned champ of Red Bull Monte Descend 2011.
